Israeli army strikes numerous Hamas, Hezbollah targets in Gaza Strip While US urges more humanitarian aid/VIDEO
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) are continuing to operate in the Hamad area in western Khan Yunis, conducting targets raids on Hamas terrorist infrastructure, during which they located weapons.
The IDF troops are simultaneously continuing to act in order to evacuate civilians from areas of combat, Caliber.Az reports, citing the IDF Press Service.
Over the past day, the troops apprehended dozens of Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists who hid among the civilian population and attempted to flee the area.
Furthermore, IDF troops are continuing to operate in central Gaza, eliminating approximately 20 terrorists over the past day through the use of sniper fire, tank fire, and UAVs.
In Beit Hanoun, IDF troops identified a terrorist cell that was operating a drone at the same time that the troops were conducting activity in the area. Following the identification, fighter jets struck and eliminated the terrorist cell.
Moreover, the IAF is continuing to carry out precise strikes on Hamas terror targets throughout the Gaza Strip. Over the past day, over 50 targets belonging to the terrorist organization were struck, including launch posts, weapons storage facilities, tunnel shafts, and additional military infrastructure.
In a separate incident, following the sirens that sounded in northern Israel a short while ago, approximately 10 launches that crossed from Lebanon into Israeli territory were identified. A number of the launches were intercepted, and no injuries were reported.
In response to the launches toward the area of Margaliot in northern Israel this morning, a short while ago, fighter jets struck a series of Hezbollah terror targets in the areas of Bint Jbeil, Sultaniyeh, and Seddiqine. Among the targets struck were Hezbollah military structures, and a military command and control center used by the terrorist organization.
Against this background, US Vice President Kamala Harris, a significant diplomatic meeting at the White House with Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz on the night of March 4 to 5, urged Israel to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza.
During the discussions, Vice President Harris called on the Israeli government to collaborate with the United States and other international partners to enhance humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip. The talks emphasized the importance of presenting a viable humanitarian plan to ensure the safety of the people in Rafah before any potential military action in the region.
Harris underscored the need for Hamas to accept the terms of the hostage agreement, including a proposed six-week ceasefire. Prior to the meeting, Harris had emphasized the urgency of declaring a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip without delay, demanding the immediate release of hostages and stressing the humanitarian crisis affecting innocent civilians.
"A six-week ceasefire must be declared immediately. It is necessary to free the hostages. The people of the Gaza Strip are suffering a humanitarian disaster, and Israel must step up efforts to provide humanitarian aid urgently and without any excuses. In the Gaza Strip, we see a heartbreaking sight: too many innocents killed," Harris stated.
Notably, this meeting is the focal point of Gantz's visit to Washington, happening without the consent of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and against his will. The Israeli Embassy in Washington has reportedly been instructed not to offer any assistance to Minister Gantz during his visit. The discussions between Harris and Gantz highlight the complex diplomatic challenges and differing perspectives within the Israeli leadership.
