Serbia ready to increase transit of Russian gas to Hungary

Serbia has declared its readiness to provide increased transit of gas from Russia to Hungary in case transit through Ukraine is halted.

The relevant statement was made by the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Péter Szijjártó, Lenta.ru reports.

According to Szijjártó, Ukraine wants to terminate the earlier transit agreement with Russia.

"Today the President of Serbia confirmed that if Hungary wants to increase the amount of gas arriving in Hungary through Serbia, Serbia can provide the necessary supply capacity for this," the minister said in a video message, streamed live on Facebook.
