Armenian nationalists lash out at US ambassador

    REGION  27 September 2022 - 14:15

Armenian nationalists, revanchists and media outlets have lashed out at US Ambassador to Yerevan Lynne Tracy, though yesterday they were ready to worship the ground she had walked on.

Armenia was angry at the embassy's statement posted on Facebook, according to Caliber.Az.

“On September 27, we commemorate the victims of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and express condolences and support to the families of the dead and wounded. The United States is committed to bringing peace to the South Caucasus region,” the statement says.

The streamlined language of the US embassy angered the nationalist and revanchist-minded users of the Armenian segment of social networks. Under the post of the US embassy on Facebook, there are already dozens of indignant cries in comments by Armenian users who even managed to accuse Washington of "provoking Azerbaijani aggression".

Here are just some of these comments: “It was not an Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict? It was a real massacre”; “How could you remember the victims from Azerbaijan and express your condolences to them? What hypocrisy, Madam Ambassador”; “Stop putting an equal sign between us, Madam Ambassador”; “Former US President [Donald] Trump should be held accountable for pandering to Azerbaijan,” etc.

In turn, the Armenian media organized attacks on Ambassador Tracy for the fact that there is not even a hint about "Artsakh" in the statement. “There is not a word of condemnation against Azerbaijan in this statement, just as Artsakh is not mentioned,” the Yerevan media wrote.
