Armenian PM again sets conditions to restore railway links with Azerbaijan

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that his country would be ready to start restoring the railway through Nakhchivan and Meghri when the parties' approaches to its operation coincide.

He made the remarks in the Armenian parliament on December 7 to comment on the results of the Moscow-hosted regular session of the trilateral commission led by the Armenian, Russian and Azerbaijani deputy prime ministers held on December 6, Caliber.Az reports, quoting Armenian media.

“From the moment when our perceptions coincide, we will begin to restore the railway. I think it is unnecessary to recall that as per our ideas, the sections of the railway passing through Armenia should function within the framework of Armenian legislation. From the moment we put this approach on paper, we will be ready to start work,” Pashinyan said.

It cannot be said that the sides have reached any result, but it can be confirmed that Armenia is interested in implementing this programme, and remains ready to start restoring its sections of the railway, the Armenian prime minister noted.

"The issue of roads remains on the agenda, and the Armenian side is ready to open three crossing points for them and create other necessary road infrastructure. Armenia is ready for this work on the same terms," the premier added.
