Erdogan slams circles trying to put Türkiye in "awkward position" in Karabakh

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has slammed the anti-Turkish circles trying to put Türkiye in an "awkward position" in Karabakh.

He made the remarks at a meeting of the parliamentary faction of the ruling Justice and Development Party in Ankara on January 18, Anadolu reports.

"Our country is criticised today by those who tried unsuccessfully to force Türkiye to get bogged down in Syria, put it in an 'awkward position' in Karabakh, and a hopeless situation in the Aegean Sea," the president said.

He drew attention to the desire of anti-Turkish circles to belittle the significance of the country's achievements, including the Turkish defence industry.

As an example, the politician cited criticism of Baykar, one of the leading manufacturers of unmanned aerial vehicles in Türkiye.

According to the Turkish leader, despite the campaign of denigration of the drone manufacturer, Baykar receives such a number of orders today that the company's production facilities are fully loaded, and deliveries are planned for four-five years ahead.

"Those who refused to supply drones to Türkiye yesterday are now turning to Ankara for the purchase of UAVs," he said.

"The reason for Baykar's criticism is this company's contribution to Türkiye's achievements," Erdogan emphasised, recalling that Baykar's Bayraktar TB-2 UAVs have proven themselves highly in many regions, from Syria to Azerbaijan's Karabakh.
