Azerbaijanis protest in Khankendi-Lachin road for 57 day
KARABAKH 06 February 2023 - 09:57
Despite the frosty weather, the protest on the Khankendi-Lachin road against the illegal exploitation of mineral deposits in Azerbaijan's Karabakh economic region has been going on for 57 days. Eco-activists, as in the first days of the demonstrations, are very active.
The protest, which began on the morning of December 12 last year continued on the night of February 6. The protesters demonstrate firm will and perseverance, a Report correspondent informs from the scene.
They are provided with hot meals and a place to stay overnight, they are also provided with hot meals. Safety rules are observed during the demonstrations, no incidents were recorded during the night.
Eco-activists traditionally started the day by performing Azerbaijan's national anthem and patriotic songs.
As a result of negotiations held on December 3 and 7, 2022, with the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, a delegation consisting of specialists from the economy, ecology and natural resources ministries, the State Service for Property Issues under the Economy Ministry and the AzerGold closed-type joint-stock company had to conduct preliminary monitoring of illegal exploitation of mineral deposits of Azerbaijan's territory, where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily deployed, as well as related environmental and other problems. However, due to the inaction of the peacekeepers, the monitoring did not take place.
On December 12, 2022, Azerbaijani eco-activists, volunteers and civil society representatives began a peaceful protest demanding an end to environmental terrorism, to stop the illegal exploitation of mineral deposits.
