Chief Operations Officer: Azerbaijan to build additional facilities to organise COP29 sessions

Chief Operations Officer for COP29 Azerbaijan Narmin Jarchalova has said that additional facilities will be built on the territory of the Baku Olympic Stadium to organise all COP29 plenary sessions in one place.

Jarchalova made these remarks at the COP29 Azerbaijan first press conference, Caliber.Az reports.

“A single international platform will soon be presented for accommodating guests in hotels,” she said.

Jarchalova noted that proceeding from the previous COP events, Azerbaijan should expect 30,000-50,000 guests, or even more.

“I think that Azerbaijan is able to receive so many guests due to its tourism capabilities,” she added.

To recap, Baku will host the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).

A group of Eastern European countries has chosen Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to host COP29 climate talks next year.

Earlier, Bulgaria withdrew its candidacy to host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in favour of Azerbaijan.

Moreover, Baku and Yerevan agreed to support each other at some international venues. In a joint statement, Armenia said it would support Azerbaijan's bid to host the COP29 summit.

The conference is being held in rotation by five UN regional groups, and Eastern Europe will take part next year.
