Ombudsperson: Armenia burns Azerbaijani civilians alive during Bashlibel massacres

    KARABAKH  18 April 2024 - 12:51

Azerbaijani Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsperson) Sabina Aliyeva has said that Azerbaijani civilians were burned alive during massacres in Bashlibel village of the Kalbajar district.

Aliyeva made these remarks in connection with the 31st anniversary of the tragic events in Bashlibel village of the Kalbajar district, Report informs.

“Throughout history, thousands of innocent Azerbaijanis who became victims of the genocide were brutally murdered as a result of Armenia’s genocide and occupation policy towards Azerbaijan,” she noted.

Bashlibel village of Kalbajar district is located on the bank of the Bashlibel River.

The village was occupied by Armenian armed forces in 1993.

Defeated in the second Karabakh war that broke out on September 27, 2020, Armenia signed an act of capitulation on November 10 of the same year. According to the agreement, the Armenian military left the Kalbajar district on November 25 and handed it over to the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.
