Israel launches "limited" retaliatory strike on Iran

Israel launched a "limited" strike on Iran in response to the April 13 attack.

Iranian authorities said they had shot down several drones and denied reports of an Israeli missile attack on the country, Caliber.Az reports.

Earlier, Iranian media reported explosions in the area of the city of Isfahan in central Iran and the work of air defence in different regions.

“Several drones were successfully shot down by the country’s air defence, but there is no information about a missile attack yet,” Iranian Space Agency spokesman Hossein Dalirian wrote on social media X.

Earlier, CBS News and ABC News reported, citing American officials, that Israel launched missiles towards Iran. The White House and the Pentagon did not comment on this.

"We have no comment at this time," an Israeli army spokesman told AFP.

“Sources report that strong explosions can be heard in Isfahan province,” Iranian state television said.

According to the FARS agency, the explosions occurred near the Air Force base, which is located near the international airport.

Isfahan province is home to several Iranian nuclear facilities.

Flights over Tehran and other cities are reported to be suspended. In particular, the Imam Khomeini International Airport in the Iranian capital is closed.

Mehr agency clarified that flights have been suspended to Tehran, Isfahan and Shiraz, as well as to airports in the west, northwest and southwest of the country.

The United States did not support Israel's retaliatory attack on Iran, CNN reports, citing an American official.
