Azerbaijani top prosecutor becomes vice-president of International Association of Prosecutors

A delegation led by Azerbaijani Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev concluded a productive working visit to the People's Republic of China, where they engaged in significant discussions and initiatives aimed at enhancing international cooperation in combating corruption.

During the 57th meeting of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP), Aliyev highlighted the reforms implemented in Azerbaijan's prosecution bodies under President Ilham Aliyev's guidance, Azartac reports.

He also underscored the Prosecutor General's Office's contribution to the IAP's activities, emphasizing Azerbaijan's increasing global stature and trust, exemplified by hosting the prestigious COP29 session.

Aliyev's election as vice president of the association for the upcoming term reaffirmed Azerbaijan's commitment to global anti-corruption efforts. Organizational matters for the association's annual conference in Azerbaijan later this year were also addressed, showcasing Azerbaijan's proactive role on the international stage.

Further strengthening ties, Aliyev met with Danny Y M Woo, head of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) of Hong Kong. Woo expressed the commission's keenness to deepen collaboration with Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies, highlighting the potential for long-term institutional cooperation.

Aliyev commended the ICAC's effective anti-corruption endeavors and emphasized the importance of mutual visits and training to facilitate experience exchange. He also proposed enhancing cooperation between the Hong Kong International Anti-Corruption Academy and Azerbaijan's Main Anti-Corruption Department for mutual benefit.

The conclusion of the delegation's visit marks a significant step forward in Azerbaijan's global anti-corruption efforts and highlights the country's commitment to fostering international cooperation in this crucial area.
