Armenia unveils points of peace agreement with Azerbaijan

Armenian Ambassador-at-Large Edmon Marukyan has disclosed six points proposed by Armenia to Azerbaijan to start negotiations on a peace agreement.

Caliber.Az presents these six points with reference to the Armenian media.

"1. Proceeding from the first paragraph, we received a proposal on a peace agreement from Azerbaijan on March 11, 2022, to which we are responding.

2. The Republic of Armenia has never had and does not have territorial claims against Azerbaijan.

3. The issues of ensuring the security of the Armenians of the Nagorno-Karabakh region, the observance of their rights and freedom, as well as determining the final status of the Nagorno-Karabakh region are of fundamental importance for the Armenian side.

4. The Armenian side considers important the statement of the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the prime minister of the Republic of Armenia, and the president of the Russian Federation dated November 9, 2020, the fulfillment of the obligations set out in the statements dated January 11 and November 26, 2021 (return of prisoners of war, restoration of roads).

5. The Armenian side is ready to start negotiations on a peace treaty on the establishment of interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia on the basis of the UN Charter, the Helsinki Final Act, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

6. The Armenian side appealed to the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group to organize the corresponding negotiations,” Marukyan said in a statement.
