Former Yerevan mayor may be accused of embezzling $40 million
    Pashinyan's revenge

    REGION  01 July 2022 - 10:15

Armenian State Supervision Service has inspected the activities of the Yerevan Mayor’s Office and revealed abuses and violations worth about 16 billion drams (about $40 million) during the tenure of former Mayor Hayk Marutyan.

“In this regard, the service intends to apply to the Prosecutor General’s Office for a criminal examination of the incident,” Caliber.Az informs, citing the Yerevan-based Zhoghovurd paper.

The article says that the fact that in the mayor's office, both in the time of Marutyan and today, the right-hand does not know what the left is doing, citizens are very dissatisfied with the employees of the Mayor’s Office, because instead of the prescribed 10 days, letters are answered in a few months - indisputable facts.

“Of course, the investigation has yet to find out what Hayk Marutyan has to do with the abuse of a significant amount, about 16 billion drams. The Mayor's Office is in almost the same situation, and it will be interesting to see what the State Supervision Service will tell about the activities of today's mayor,” the newspaper writes.

Last December, Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan was removed from office due to a confrontation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
