Media: Israel prepares for attacking Iran
The Israel Defense Forces' (IDF) Home Front Command has relocated the Ram Battalion's search and rescue teams to Tel Aviv in preparation for a potential Iranian and Hezbollah attack.
The teams are stationed near Yad Eliyahu Stadium, where Home Front Command’s rapid response vehicles and trailers are positioned as part of intervention and rescue efforts, Caliber.Az reports citing the foreign media.
These soldiers are tasked with responding to building collapses and other forms of destruction. The IDF confirmed that similar search and rescue units have been deployed to central Israeli cities, including Haifa, Krayot, and various southern and central locations.
The mobilization followed a situational assessment by the Home Front Command conducted earlier this week.
The Home Front Command deliberated on the appropriate measures for Eilat in light of recent Yemeni Houthi attacks on the southernmost point of Israel. Given Eilat's status as a major tourist destination, its distance from central areas, and the challenges of rapidly deploying rescue forces in an emergency, the decision was made to station a permanent battalion in the city to handle potential destruction in large residential buildings.
The Home Front Command also maintains established guidelines for preparedness, including ensuring that bomb shelters are stocked and ready for potential attacks.
