Israel continues military operations in Gaza Strip 40 sites hit / Video
The Israeli military has stated that it is continuing operations across the Gaza Strip, targeting militant infrastructure and individuals affiliated with armed groups.
Operations in southern Gaza have focused on the Shabura and Tel Al-Sultan areas in Rafah, Caliber.Az reports, citing Israel Defense Forces.
Troops reportedly dismantled several infrastructure sites and engaged in clashes.
In northern Gaza, Israeli forces say they are continuing efforts to locate and dismantle weapons storage facilities. The IDF added that airstrikes by the Israeli Air Force (IAF) over the past day had targeted and destroyed approximately 40 sites across the Strip, including weapons depots, military compounds, and militants.
The operation is being carried out under the guidance of the Israeli military and the internal security agency intelligence. The IDF has released images purportedly showing some of the ongoing activity.
On April 17, at least 37 people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, according to the Hamas-run civil defence agency, with many of the casualties reported in al-Mawasi, where displaced civilians had set up tents. Witnesses described a powerful explosion that ignited tents, killing dozens including children.
Israel had previously designated al-Mawasi a safe zone and urged civilians to relocate there. The Israeli military said it was reviewing the reports. UNICEF chief Catherine Russell condemned the incident, saying images of burning children in makeshift shelters “should shake us all to our core.”
