On August 18, Armenians held their last service in a church built during the occupation of this Azerbaijani city in Lachin.
According to Caliber.Az, the church, which Armenians are trying to pass off as a "historical monument", was built in 1996-98 on the site of the house of Lachin resident Gubad Ibrahimov.
The man told Azerbaijani journalists that he had worked for many years in leadership positions in the construction sector in Lachin, Shusha, and Khankendi. In 1988, Gubad Ibrahimov built a private house in Lachin at Azi Aslanov Street, 35. He showed all the relevant documents to the media.
Gubad Ibrahimov believes that the illegal building on the site of his house should be demolished. He does not insist that his house should be built on his land plot after the demolition of the Armenian illegal building. According to Gubad Ibrahimov, almost everything in Lachin will have to be rebuilt and the decision on what should be built on his land must be taken by the Azerbaijani state authorities.
"Our main goal is to expose the international Armenian propaganda that there is allegedly an 'ancient church' in Lachin. It is necessary to highlight this issue as much as possible in society and in the media and to inform international structures. Because carrying out construction works in the occupied territory is contrary to international law," said Gubad Ibrahimov in a conversation with Moderator.Az correspondent.
