Romanian president to visit Azerbaijan

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis will pay a visit to Azerbaijan on February 2-3 at the invitation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

As part of the visit, the presidents are scheduled to hold talks on the further development of cooperation in areas such as energy, transport, trade, investment, digitalisation, agriculture, education and culture, Interfax reports, quoting an unnamed diplomatic source.

According to the source, the heads of state are also expected to discuss the implementation of regional projects, such as a project to lay an electrical cable under the Black Sea and to consider initiating similar projects in the digital sphere.

Iohannis will also attend the ninth ministerial meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) Advisory Council on February 3, the source added.
