Armenian speaker chooses another platform for spreading lies and fakes

The Assembly of the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU) is being held in Bahrain and is attended by 1700 delegates from 136 countries, including Armenia. Traditionally, the Armenian delegation could not help but use this platform to pull dust in the eyes and present their state as a light of democracy and security in the region. This is what the Speaker of the National Assembly Alain Simonyan did in Manama.

How do smart people teach us? Speak but do not talk gibberish! Tell a lie, but don't get excited! But Alain Robertovich was unstoppable in Manama. We will not reproduce the whole speech of the Armenian speaker, we will cite only some of his points, by voicing which Simonyan, not realizing it himself, made a blunder.

"The basic principles of peaceful co-existence - respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, equality, and self-determination, non-interference in internal affairs - should govern relations between states. However, we see that these principles are often violated," said Simonyan. Right, we agree with him here. These principles are often violated by the country he represented at the IPU. Or is it not Armenia that pays lip service to the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, but in reality cannot abandon its occupation policy and continues to arm and manpower the illegal Armenian gangs in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan?

"Now let me turn to our region and my country, Armenia, where national minorities - Yezidis, Kurds, Russians, Ukrainians, Assyrians, Jews, and Greeks - live side by side as equal members of our society, enjoying all rights," Simonyan said with pathos. But, Mr.Simonyan, where are the 250.000 or more Azerbaijanis, who lived until 1988 on their ancestral lands on the territory of the modern Republic of Armenia? Yezidis and Assyrians are good, of course. It is good that a minuscule number of them still remain in Armenia. But you forgot to mention that in 1988, about 10% of the population of Armenia were Azerbaijanis, the indigenous population of this territory, who were expelled by Armenian nationalists.

"Since May 12, 2021, neighbouring Azerbaijan has violated Armenia's territorial integrity and illegally occupied about 150 square kilometres of territory," Simonyan said. Well, first of all, it did not occupy but went to its borders. Secondly, where is the border, the delimitation of which Yerevan refuses so stubbornly? And if there is no border, then we will draw it where we see fit. And finally, thirdly, Alain Simonyan is a seemingly young man, but he is already suffering from amnesia. Otherwise, he would remember that it was Armenia that occupied Azerbaijani territories for 30 years, and not 150 square kilometres, but 20 per cent of 86.6 square kilometers.

"Some say that Armenia is seeking to expand its territory. Let me be clear: Armenia has no territorial claims against any of its neighbours," Simonyan continues to lie. What about your boss Pashinyan's expression that "Karabakh is Armenia, and that's it"? And what about the statement of then Defence Minister Tonoyan that "a new war - new territories"? And what about the still unedited Declaration of Sovereignty of Armenia in 1990, which refers to the unlawful decision of the Supreme Soviet of the Armenian SSR and the Karabakh National Council of December 1, 1989, on the reunification of the Armenian SSR and Nagorno-Karabakh?

"I will inform you about the blockade of the Lachin corridor, which is the only road connecting Armenia and the world to Nagorno-Karabakh, inhabited by ethnic Armenians for more than a thousand years," Simonyan said, rolling his eyes. It would be up to psychotherapists to figure out about the "thousand years", but we can only say that a) Azerbaijan has not blocked anything; b) Karabakh and the situation on the Lachin road is an internal matter of Azerbaijan (and Simonyan swore that Armenia does not interfere in the internal affairs of other states).

"Residents of Nagorno Karabakh are subjected to loud religious calls by Azerbaijanis at night, and their homes are illuminated by floodlights," Simonyan made a final attempt to influence the minds of those gathered. However, he did not take into account the fact that there were many representatives of Muslim countries among the delegates. They were displeased by the words of the speaker of the State Assembly of Armenia that the Azan in Muslim Karabakh might somehow make someone nervous. As for the floodlights, well it's so hard to please these Armenians. First, they complain that they supposedly have no electricity, and then, when Azerbaijanis help them with "illumination", they begin to cry that this is discrimination.

As we can see, despite his high position in Pashinyan's Armenia, Alain Simonyan remains a participant in the wits&humour competition at the Yerevan State Conservatory. However, he forgot that the IPU is not a humour contest, and those gathered at the event know how to not only listen but also draw their own conclusions, ignoring old Armenian stories full of bias and lie.
