Prosecutor General : Armenian occupation caused severe ecological harm to Azerbaijan

Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev has highlighted the significant environmental damage caused by Armenia during long years of occupation of Azerbaijani lands.

Aliyev made the remarks at the meeting of the leadership of the prosecutor generals of the five Caspian littoral countries held in Baku, Caliber.Az reports.

"Long years of Armenian occupation have caused great damage to the ecology of Azerbaijan,” he said.

He pointed out that rivers were polluted, forests were indiscriminately cut down, minerals were plundered, and many animals and plants were driven to extinction.

"The Azerbaijani state is doing everything for the speedy restoration of the environment of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur," Aliyev emphasised, underlining the government's efforts to mitigate the environmental impact of the occupation

He also emphasised the importance of the upcoming COP29 climate change conference in Baku.

The prosecutor general also underscored the importance of the upcoming COP29 event in Baku, highlighting Azerbaijan's commitment to addressing environmental challenges on a global scale.

The remarks by Prosecutor General Aliyev shed light on the environmental repercussions of the Armenian occupation and reaffirm Azerbaijan's dedication to environmental conservation and rehabilitation efforts in the liberated territories.
