Turkish-Russian center in Aghdam concludes with ceremony emphasizing peace efforts

The closing ceremony of the joint Turkish-Russian monitoring center in Aghdam District took place on April 26, as reported by Caliber.Az based on information from the Defense Ministry.

The event was attended by senior officials from the armed forces of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Russia, along with ambassadors from both countries in Azerbaijan, servicemen, and media representatives.

During the ceremony, Col-Gen Karim Valiyev, Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Defence Minister and Chief of General Staff of the Azerbaijani Army; Col-Gen Levent Ergün, Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces of the Turkish Armed Forces; and Col-Gen Sergey Istrakov, Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, addressed the attendees.

They discussed the operations of the joint monitoring center, which was established based on a memorandum signed on November 11, 2020, between Türkiye and Russia. The Turkish and Russian servicemen were commended for their dedicated and courageous efforts towards maintaining peace and stability in the region.

It was also noted during the event that, per an agreement between the leadership of both countries, the process of early and complete withdrawal of the Russian peacekeeping contingent temporarily deployed in the Karabakh economic region of Azerbaijan has commenced.

An artistic program featuring performances by the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Hazi Aslanov Army Ideological and Cultural Centre and the Military Orchestra of the Heydar Aliyev Military Institute added a cultural touch to the closing ceremony.
