Israeli airstrike targets Hezbollah ammunition depot in southern Lebanon

21 July 2024 13:12

Israeli airstrikes targeted an ammunition depot belonging to the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah in southern Lebanon on July 20.

The strikes, which occurred in the town of Adloun, approximately 40 km (25 miles) north of Lebanon's border with Israel, caused a series of powerful explosions that resonated across southern Lebanon, Caliber.Az reports citing the foreign media.

At least four civilians were wounded in the strikes in Adloun. The Israeli military has not provided an immediate comment on the incident.

The airstrikes in southern Lebanon coincided with Israeli fighter jets targeting Houthi military sites near Yemen's port city of Hodeidah on the same day. Hezbollah responded, describing the strikes as signaling a "new and dangerous phase" in the region.

Israel launched the strikes on Yemen a day after a drone launched by the Iranian-backed Houthis hit Israel's economic hub Tel Aviv.

Israel and Hezbollah have been trading fire since Hezbollah announced a "support front" with Palestinians shortly after its ally Hamas attacked southern Israeli border communities on October 7, triggering Israel's military offensive in Gaza.
