Azerbaijan announces Human Rights Month

Azerbaijani Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman), Sabina Aliyeva, has appealed to state and local self-government organizations, scientific, educational and medical institutions, civil society institutions in connection with the announcement of Human Rights Month.
Human Rights Month will be held on the eve of the celebration of Human Rights Day in Azerbaijan from May 18 through June 18, 2022, according to Report.
Aliyeva called on state and local self-government organizations, scientific, educational and medical institutions, civil society institutions to hold several events in connection with Human Rights Month.
According to the appeal, the main purposes of holding the Human Rights Month are to strengthen activity in the protection and promotion of human rights, inform the public about achievements, determine upcoming tasks to eliminate existing problems, as well as develop legal thinking and legal culture of the population, bring to attention the inadmissibility of discrimination.
Human Rights Day is annually celebrated in Azerbaijan on June 18 upon Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s order dated June 18, 2007.
