Large-scale work on the destruction of Azerbaijan's historical heritage is in full swing in Armenia. The aim is clear and obvious - to raze it to the ground or dehumanize it, and to convince the young generation of Armenians that there have never been Azerbaijanis on the territory of the republic. As part of this struggle, nationalist and chauvinist forces do not hesitate to do anything, including war with those dead...

We learned about one such case from the Instagram of a travel blogger G.Mattu, who visited Armenia and shared a photo taken in the Urud village of the Zangazur region. There he took a picture of a fallen tombstone with the inscription "Isa Ali oglu Guliyev, 1924-1987. As a keepsake from his son Musa." There was a picture of a county frame on the gravestone... Next to it other gravestones and parts of the fence were lying about in disorder. At least they didn't steal it for scrap metal. However, it's about to come to that.

Azerbaijani MP Musa Guliyev stated that the gravestone on the photo was the gravestone of his father, surrounded by his relatives' graves. "The Armenians expelled us from our native village in 1988. Unfortunately, all the graves of Azerbaijanis in the territories liberated from Armenian occupation during the Patriotic War are in the same ruined condition, having been attacked by vandals.

I visited Urud in 2006 and saw a destroyed Azerbaijani cemetery. I saw also tombstones of Albanians and Turks destroyed in the 14-16 centuries, after which I wrote a book "Uruda iki səfər" ("Two trips to Urud"), which was also published in English and French," Guliyev emphasized.

He also thanked those who made this photo spread on the Internet, saying he believes that someday the graves of his relatives will be restored, and then their souls will rejoice...

The story with the gravestone of Musa Guliev's father is not an isolated one. Let us recall the poignant photo shared by Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration.

It depicts the trenches of Armenian occupants in the Aghdam district. The Armenians dug them in the village cemetery, right in the middle of the graves of two sisters, Syaringul and Tayyara Gakhramanovs, obviously doing it intentionally. This is also vandalism.

The same thing happened to the grave of Allahverdi Bagirov, National Hero of Azerbaijan. It should be noted that Bagirov, who died in 1992, was buried in the Alley of Martyrs in the city of Aghdam.

After the seizure of Aghdam by Armenians, the Alley was destroyed. And only after the liberation of Agdam the restoration of the grave and the Alley as a whole began...

We have recently written in detail about the vandalism of Armenians in the report "Caliber.Az mission landed in Armenia: an investigation into the footsteps of vandals", which caused a resonance both in Azerbaijan and in Armenia.
