Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan discuss energy supply diversification

Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredow and Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov discussed energy cooperation in Ashgabat on July 6.

"The importance of increasing bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, diversification of energy supply schemes to international markets was emphasized," APA reports, quoting the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The ministry recalled the memorandum of understanding signed in January 2021 between the Turkmen and Azerbaijani governments on joint exploration and development of the Dostlug hydrocarbon field in the Caspian Sea.

"In this regard, Turkmenistan expressed readiness to continue bilateral consultations on several energy areas of cooperation," the Foreign Ministry said.

It noted that during the negotiations, both sides expressed their readiness to continue cooperation, taking into account the existing potential.
