Armenia backs Trump’s peace role in Independence Day message
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan congratulated U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance on Independence Day, highlighting deepening bilateral ties and Washington’s role in regional peace efforts.
In a message to Trump, published by Armenian media and cited by Caliber.Az, Pashinyan underscored the foundations of the relationship, stating: “The Republic of Armenia and the United States of America are united not only by common interests, but also by a long-standing friendship aimed at strengthening peace, stability and prosperity.”
He pointed to U.S. engagement in the South Caucasus, adding: “In this context, I consider it appropriate to emphasise the importance of your decisive leadership in establishing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.”
Pashinyan also referenced a U.S.-backed initiative, saying: “The initiative ‘Trump’s Path for International Peace and Prosperity,’ the work on the implementation of which between our countries is moving into the practical phase, will undoubtedly become an important guarantee of this peace and will pave the way for a more peaceful, interconnected and prosperous region.”
Emphasising multilateral efforts, he said: “Speaking of peace, I cannot fail to mention the Board of Peace initiated by you and Armenia’s membership in it as a founding member, which is another testament to the shared vision of the Republic of Armenia and the United States aimed at establishing lasting peace.”
Highlighting the broader trajectory of relations, Pashinyan added: “I note with satisfaction that the comprehensive strategic partnership formed between the Republic of Armenia and the United States of America has acquired new substance, encompassing many new areas of mutual interest.”
He concluded: “I am confident that the consistent implementation of our joint agenda will contribute to the further strengthening of bilateral relations in the interests of our peoples.”
