Armenian premier discusses police guard model with security forces
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed the creation of a police guard with the heads of law enforcement agencies.
"The new police structure includes four main components: patrol service, criminal police, community police and the Guard. Now it is necessary to make a decision regarding the model of the Guard. After the plan is ready, it is necessary to start its implementation," Armenian media quotes Pashinyan as saying, Caliber.Az reports.
The Prime Minister was told that the Guard Bill has already been introduced and now the scope, functions, coverage and other parameters of the new structure need to be discussed.
Media note that according to the reform plan, the Armenian police forces will be demilitarized and reorganized into the Guard. This unit will be entrusted with the functions of protecting public order and security, guarding state buildings and the most important objects, escorting delegations within the framework of state protocol, as well as ensuring the legal regime of martial law and state of emergency, etc. The new structure will be reorganized into the Guard.
