IRGC commander vows "painful revenge" for Palestinians in Tehran speech
In a speech delivered in Tehran on November 14, Major General Hossein Salami, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), accused "Zionists" of demolishing homes, towns, and villages in Gaza, leaving oppressed Muslims buried beneath the rubble.
"If you have killed 40,000 Palestinians in the besieged and defenceless Gaza Strip, 100,000 Palestinian children have been born in their place," he said, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
Salami also emphasised that Hezbollah would not withdraw from the battlefield, regardless of the loss of their leader, commanders, or fighters. He stated that the Resistance Axis, a coalition of fighters, remains steadfast in their struggle.
"We will not allow the enemies to dominate Muslims," Salami declared, further stating that "revenge will be ours. Painful blows are coming; you will not escape."
The IRGC chief's remarks signal continued resolve in the ongoing conflict, highlighting a determination to avenge those lost in the battle.
Thus, on October 26, Israel launched strikes on military targets in Iran, including missile manufacturing sites and air defense systems, in retaliation for an Iranian missile attack on October 1. The Israeli military's response was precise, avoiding critical energy infrastructure. Iran condemned the strikes as a violation of international law but downplayed the impact, claiming its air defenses thwarted the attacks in three provinces.
Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu asserted the strikes significantly weakened Iran’s defense capabilities. The US supported Israel’s actions as self-defense, emphasizing that the strikes targeted military assets and avoided civilian areas. Tensions between the two nations remain high, with concerns of further escalation.
