Russians show growing interest in visiting North Korea

Tourist traffic between Russia and North Korea has maintained steady growth over the past three years, with visitor numbers showing a positive trend, Russian Natural Resources Minister Alexander Kozlov said.

Kozlov, who also serves as co-chair of the Russia-North Korea intergovernmental commission, made the remarks in an interview with TASS on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.

“The tourist flow between Russia and Korea has maintained a stable trend over the past three years and, undoubtedly, this represents positive growth. The overall figure is still small, but we only began stepping up this work in 2024 after a fairly long period of the pandemic, when opportunities for developing tourism were significantly limited,” he said.

Kozlov said Russian tourists were increasingly interested in travelling to North Korea and exploring the country’s culture, traditions and distinctive characteristics.
