Iran, Qatar discuss shipping corridor through Strait of Hormuz
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani have met in Tehran to discuss the regional situation, efforts to reduce tensions and conditions for resuming dialogue, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry has said.
In a post on X, it noted that during the meeting the sides paid particular attention to a proposed phased framework involving the establishment of a temporary joint shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz and the implementation of a joint project to clear the waterway of mines, Caliber.Az reports.

Al Thani stressed the need to respect the sovereignty of neighbouring states and freedom of navigation, calling for continued diplomatic efforts.
Araghchi thanked Qatar for its mediation initiatives and de-escalation efforts.
