Armenia to spend millions on Independence Day concerts

Around $3.6 million will be allocated for celebrations, including concerts, marking Armenia’s Independence Day anniversary.

Concerts will be held in Kapan, Goris, Vanadzor, Gyumri, Ijevan and Yerevan, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

The largest concert will take place in Yerevan on September 21, featuring the National Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chookasian National Academic Choir, and a number of pop performers.

Armenia will mark the 35th anniversary of the restoration of its independence, first declared on May 28, 1918, when the Democratic Republic of Armenia was established before being incorporated into the Soviet Union in 1920.

On September 21, 1991, citizens overwhelmingly voted for independence, restoring the country’s freedom from the Soviet Union.
