Iran signals broader regional response to potential security threats

Iranian fighters should confront threats before they reach the country's borders, a senior Quds Force official said, Tasnim news agency reports.

“Fighters should not wait until the enemy reaches the country's borders and then confront it,” said Iraj Masjedi, deputy coordinator of the Quds Force, the overseas arm of Iran's Revolutionary Guards.

Masjedi said Iran's strategy was to pursue enemies in what he called their “strategic depth” and prevent militant groups from reaching Iranian territory.

He also said forces in Lebanon, the Palestinian territories, Iraq and Yemen were supporting what Iran calls the resistance front.
