Media: Shake-up in Armenia’s security establishment

Former Armenian Interior Minister Vahe Ghazaryan is being considered as a candidate to replace Suren Papikyan as defence minister, according to Armenian media reports.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has not yet dismissed Papikyan, the reports say, because he has so far been unable to identify a suitable candidate to succeed him.

Ghazaryan is reportedly holding talks with Pashinyan over the possibility of his appointment as defence minister.

The reports do not indicate that a final decision has been made on Papikyan’s future or Ghazaryan’s possible appointment.
