Azerbaijan announces significant housing developments in Zangilan PHOTO
Executive Director of the Azerbaijani Reconstruction, Construction, and Management Service for Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan districts Novras Jafarov has announced significant housing developments in Zangilan city.
This year, 104 apartments are planned to be prepared for new residents as part of ongoing reconstruction efforts.
Jafarov detailed that the city’s general plan was crafted by the Swiss firm SA Partners, commissioned by the Azerbaijani State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture.
He also highlighted that approximately 333 hectares in Zangilan have been earmarked for construction.
In the first residential quarter, construction is underway on eight two-story and four three-story townhouse-type buildings. This initiative marks a significant step in the region's redevelopment, aiming to provide new homes for relocating families.
Following the briefing, journalists were given a tour of the initial residential complex in Zangilan, showcasing the progress of the housing projects.
The Azerbaijani government launched the Great Return programme to relocate former IDPs to their homes in liberated territories. In 2022 and 2023, hundreds of people were resettled in Aghali village of the Zangilan district, Talish village of the Tartar district and Lachin city.
The conditions for the return of approximately 34,500 families to Karabakh should be created within the state programme by 2027.
Large-scale urban development projects have been launched alongside Shusha since last year, and communal and social infrastructure is being formed in Aghdam, Fuzuli, Zangilan, Lachin, and a number of other settlements in the liberated territories.
