New groups of former IDPs set off for Azerbaijan’s Shukurbeyli, Khojaly and Khojavand

More groups of internally displaced persons have set off for the village of Shukurbeyli in Jabrayil District and the cities of Khojaly and Khojavand as part of Azerbaijan’s “Great Return” state program, on the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev.

The families had previously been living temporarily in various parts of the country, mainly in dormitories, sanatoriums and administrative buildings, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

At this stage, nine families comprising 60 people have departed for Shukurbeyli, while 17 families, or 78 people, have headed to Khojaly and another 16 families, or 55 people, to Khojavand.

The returning residents expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva for the comprehensive state support. They also thanked the Azerbaijani Army and its heroic soldiers and officers for liberating the lands from occupation and prayed for the souls of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives along this path.
