Turkic religious leaders witness Karabakh reconstruction efforts

Participants of an international scientific-practical conference on Seyid Yahya Bakuvi visited Azerbaiajn's Aghdam, Khojaly, Khankandi and Shusha on the sidelines of the 7th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held in Baku.

The delegation began its visit in Aghdam, where the participants performed a collective prayer at the Aghdam Juma Mosque led by Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims’ Board Allahshukur Pashazade. They also visited the Martyrs’ Alley, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

The delegation then visited the Khojaly Memorial Complex, where Sabuhı Gahramanov, Deputy Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Khankandi city and the Khojaly and Aghdara districts, briefed the guests on the site.

Gahramanov said the memorial commemorates the victims of the Khojaly genocide and features photographs and other materials documenting the tragedy.

In Khankandi, the religious leaders visited the city square and Victory Park and viewed large-scale reconstruction and renovation projects underway in the city. The participants hailed the work carried out and shared their views on the conditions created and projects being implemented.

The delegation later traveled to Shusha, where it visited Jidir Plain, the Yukhari Govhar Agha Mosque and the Shusha Mosque, which is currently under construction.

The visit concluded with a briefing on the construction work and architectural project of the Shusha Mosque.
