Aghdam transforms into symbol of peace, hope – Azerbaijani official

Once described as a symbol of destruction and sorrow and known as the “Hiroshima of the Caucasus,” Aghdam is now emerging as a symbol of peace, security, and confidence in the future, Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavand districts, stated.

Huseynov made the remarks during an event at the Aghdam Juma Mosque held as part of an international scientific and practical conference dedicated to Seyid Yahya Bakuvi, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

He noted that the Aghdam Juma Mosque embodies the cultural and spiritual symbols of Karabakh and serves as an important place of worship and pilgrimage for local residents and visitors.

“The restoration of the 18th-century village mosque in Yusifjanli, Aghdam district, along with the Imarat Museum Complex of History and Architecture, which encompasses the mausoleums of members of the Karabakh Khan dynasty, stands as a testament to the Azerbaijani state’s profound commitment to preserving and safeguarding the nation’s religious and cultural heritage,” Huseynov emphasized.
