Belarus, Azerbaijan plan joint agricultural town in Karabakh in 2027

Belarus and Azerbaijan plan to begin joint construction of an agricultural town in Karabakh in 2027, along with a lift manufacturing facility in Aghdam, Belarusian Ambassador Dmitry Pinevich said.

Speaking to Report during a visit to Karabakh by a delegation of foreign diplomats, Pinevich said design work was already underway for the agricultural settlement, which is expected to include several agro-industrial complexes, Caliber.Az reports.

“We will complete the design of the agricultural town, together with some agro-industrial complexes, in 2027. And if all goes well, we plan to begin joint construction there in 2027,” the ambassador said.

The two countries are also planning to establish a joint venture in Aghdam for the production of lifts, with the participation of Belarusian company Vertus.

“In 2027, we also plan to establish a joint venture in Agdam for the production of Azerbaijani-made lifts, with the participation of the Belarusian company ‘Vertusgulnar’,” Pinevich said.

The projects were discussed alongside broader bilateral cooperation during inter-ministerial consultations between Belarus and Azerbaijan. Pinevich said the talks covered trade and investment, education, culture, sport and other areas.

“In fact, the inter-ministerial consultations covered the full spectrum of our relations: trade and economic ties, educational projects, culture and sport. The full spectrum of our relations was the subject of a constructive and productive dialogue and discussion,” he said.

According to Pinevich, the consultations also reaffirmed the two countries’ commitment to previously agreed projects and mutual support in international organisations.

Belarus and Azerbaijan also plan to increase participation in each other’s international events and exhibitions. Belarusian representatives are expected to attend the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Baku in October, while Azerbaijan plans to participate in the Vinoprom exhibition in Belarus.

Pinevich said the countries would continue holding sector-specific consultations annually, while contacts between their foreign ministries would remain active at both ministerial and deputy-ministerial levels.
