11 September 2026 18:54
Foreign diplomats visiting Azerbaijan’s Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur regions have toured the fortress walls in Shusha.
The diplomats were briefed on the history of the fortress, its architectural features, as well as its significance in the history of the city of Shusha, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
As part of the visit, the participants also took a group photo at the city's historic fortress walls.
The Shusha fortress was built in 1750–1752 by Panahali Khan, the ruler of Karabakh.
The fortress had three main entrances - the Ganja, Iravan and Aghoglan gates.
Their names are repeatedly mentioned in historical sources and are also indicated on the master plans of Shusha drawn up in the 19th century.
