Foreign diplomats wrap up first day of Karabakh, East Zangazur tour

The first day of a visit to Karabakh and East Zangazur  by representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to Azerbaijan has concluded, with the delegation touring key cultural, infrastructure and development sites in Khankandi and Shusha.

The diplomats began their program in Khankandi, where they inspected ongoing work at the railway and bus station complex and visited the Cultural Centre, Victory Park and Karabakh University, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

The delegation also toured the AzCotton garment factory and received a briefing on its operations.

In Shusha, the diplomats reviewed reconstruction and renovation projects and visited the new Shusha Mosque, Jidir Plain, Karabakh Street, the city’s central square, the House of Sadigjan and Ashaghi Govhar Agha Mosque.

They also visited the Shusha Creativity Centre, where they viewed the “Heydar Aliyev and Karabakh” exhibition, before touring the city’s historic fortress walls and the first residential complex, where they met local residents.

The first day concluded with an official reception in Shusha marking Mexico’s Independence Day.

The delegation is accompanied by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration.

The visit brings together 150 representatives from 58 countries and nine international organisations and will continue through September 12.
