Azerbaijan’s top official: Grave monument bears witness to centuries of Dawla’s lineage

12 September 2026 11:59

Azerbaijan’s Presidential Assistant Hikmet Hajiyev has highlighted the grave monument of Hasan Jalal Allahverdibekov, describing it as a symbol of historical continuity linked to Hasan Jalal Dawla, the medieval ruler of Caucasian Albania and founder of the Gandzasar Monastery.

In a post on X, Hajiyev said Allahverdibekov was a descendant of Hasan Jalal Dawla and noted that members of the lineage continued to carry the name of their prominent ancestor until the beginning of the 20th century, Caliber.Az reports.

"This monument stands as a tangible testament to centuries of historical continuity and ancestral memory," he wrote.

The reference to the monument comes amid a visit by members of Azerbaijan’s diplomatic corps to historical and religious sites in Karabakh, including the Gandzasar and Khudavang churches.
