Azerbaijan opens glove manufacturing plant in Khankendi
A glove manufacturing plant has begun operations in Khankendi, Azerbaijan, marking the launch of a new industrial facility in the city, according to Report.
The company GP Safety LLC has opened a production site for working gloves with an annual capacity of 25 million pairs. The products are intended primarily for use in Azerbaijan’s industrial and agricultural sectors.
Residents who have returned to Khankendi have been employed at the enterprise. One employee, Khayala Babayeva, said she returned to the city a year ago and that her family was offered jobs at local enterprises.
“My husband and I chose to work at the glove production workshop,” she said.
Another resident, Elkhan Babayev, said employment was provided shortly after returning.
“Honestly, I thought it would take time to find a job. But we were immediately offered work with my wife,” he said.
The plant will produce four types of working gloves, mainly for the domestic market, with potential future exports to Europe. A total of 35 jobs will be created.
Investment in the project amounts to 3.5 million manats ($2 million), supported by preferential loans and tax incentives provided by the state.
Officials say the facility is part of broader efforts by Azerbaijan to restore economic activity in Khankendi and develop industry across the Karabakh region.
