Azerbaijan’s Murovdagh tunnel set to become one of world’s longest PHOTO

Azerbaijan’s State Road Agency has released new details on the tunnel under construction beneath Mount Murovdagh in the Karabakh region, describing the project as a major addition to the country’s transport infrastructure.

According to information provided by the agency to Caliber.Az, the tunnel will be 11.7 kilometres long upon completion.

The agency says the tunnel will be the longest of its kind in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the fifth-longest tunnel in Europe and the 18th-longest in the world.

The project is being constructed beneath Mount Murovdag as part of Azerbaijan’s efforts to improve transport connectivity and infrastructure in Karabakh.
