Azerbaijan to host prestigious international archaeology conference in Karabakh PHOTO
Azerbaijan was represented by Head of the Azykh Archaeological Research and Analysis Laboratory at Karabakh University, Dr. Ajdar Babazade at the 66th International Conference of the Hugo Obermaier Society in Faro, Portugal, where he successfully proposed hosting the next international archaeology conference at Karabakh University.
This marks a milestone for Azerbaijan, as it will host an internationally prestigious archaeological conference in the Karabakh region in the near future, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
During the conference, Senior Researcher at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Dr. Babazade delivered a comprehensive report, co-authored with German archaeologist João Marreiros, on the findings from recent archaeological excavations at the Azykh Cave.
The presentation included detailed results from the 2024 digs, focusing on the microscopic and techno-typological analysis of Paleolithic artifacts discovered in the cave. Additionally, the report highlighted ongoing scientific projects supported by the Azerbaijan Science Foundation, shedding light on the growing importance of Azerbaijan in global archaeological research.
