Azerbaijan, Türkiye developing joint air control system Stretching from Aegean to Caspian Sea

20 June 2023 17:00

Turkish Defence Industy Chief Haluk Görgün has made important statements about the HAKİM air command and control system, which is being implemented jointly with Azerbaijan.

"The HAKİM Air Command System Project is one of the most important joint projects between the Azerbaijani and Turkish Air Forces. This project has enabled the air forces of both countries to conduct joint operations as well as control the airspace of Azerbaijan,” Caliber.Az reports, citing the Twitter page of SavunmaSanayiST.com.

“For this reason, we have adapted the slogan of the project in question to that of national leader Heydar Aliyev and set it out as ‘Two States, One Nation, One Airspace’. When the project is fully implemented, the joint airspace control zone will extend from the Aegean to the Caspian Sea. The air forces of the two countries will be able to operate in a similar way," Gorgun noted.

The HAKİM air traffic control system creates a set picture by evaluating the data it receives from different types of sensors and performs air traffic control actions over weapon systems and fighters using its threat assessment/weapons distribution algorithms with real data. It is a national air traffic control system that enables airspace management actions to be carried out at an operational level.

The system processes data from different types of sensors using advanced fusion algorithms, offers operators diagnostic suggestions about the weather picture and creates a defined picture of the airspace.

It provides the necessary decision support elements to effectively perform the task of airspace control using interceptor aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, surface-to-air missiles and barrel weapon systems, using advanced algorithms for threat assessment and weapons distribution in a defined aerial pattern.

Thanks to its modular and extensible architecture, it will be able to work in full compatibility with systems that are available or planned to be included in the future.

- Network support for sensor control;

- Sensor data management;

- Site fusion and correlation tracing algorithms;

- Creation of a specific aerial image;

- ATO/ACO/Flight Plan/Intelligence-based diagnostics;

- Ability to methodically manage airspace and traffic;

- Threat assessment/weapons distribution algorithms

- Integrated weapons interoperability and networked weapons management capability;

- Creation of air-to-air and ground-to-air warning geometries;

- Positive and methodical fighter flight control;

- Integration with external systems (other operations centres, naval, air and ground elements).
