Denmark considers drafting women into army

The Danish government is considering the possibility of conscripting women into the military, according to the Minister of Defence of Denmark, Troels Lund Poulsen.

"I have made a lot of effort to discuss models of how we can achieve full equality for women. But I also recognize that this should happen after the next general elections, because some parties do not want it to happen on this side of the elections," he said, RBC-Ukraine reports.

According to the minister, Copenhagen urgently needs to reach an agreement, as Russia has invaded Ukraine, and Denmark needs to rearm.

Currently, service for women in the Danish army is voluntary.
