Emerging New Shusha Mosque: Embodiment of grandeur and Victory PHOTO
The under-construction New Shusha Mosque is set to become a new symbol of the city.
The mosque’s foundation was laid in 2021 by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The mosque’s design carries symbolic meaning: its shape represents the number 8, marking the day of Shusha’s liberation and Victory Day, while the two minarets symbolize the number 11, representing the month of the city’s liberation. The minarets will reach a height of 72 meters.
Shusha is also known for its historic mosques, celebrated as examples of architectural heritage. The New Shusha Mosque will join this collection of historic architectural gems.
The project is being implemented with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Paşa Holding.
