Georgia’s PM attributes economic growth to government policies

08 April 2026 17:25

Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said the country’s strong economic growth is a result of government policies.

He noted that last year, growth reached 7.5%, and the gross domestic product hit 104.6 billion lari ($38.7 billion), Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.

According to him, for the first time, the economy surpassed the 100 billion lari ($37 billion) mark, which is a significant milestone.

Comparing Georgia’s economic performance with neighbouring Moldova, the prime minister added that over the past five years, the budget gap between the two countries has widened by more than $3.5 billion.

“Such developments are critical factors in the country’s overall progress, and in the future, we will place particular emphasis on further economic development,” the prime minister concluded.
