International travellers visit Mehdili to observe Azerbaijan's demining efforts UPDATED
A group of international travellers from the Most Traveled People (MTP) club visited the village of Mehdili in Azerbaijan’s Jabrayil district as part of a broader tour of the Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur regions.
Organised to raise global awareness about the reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories, the visit provided the delegation with a first-hand look at the extensive demining operations underway in areas previously occupied by Armenian forces, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The visitors were briefed by local authorities and specialists on the scope of the mine contamination, the dangers still posed by unexploded ordnance, and the challenges facing demining teams on the ground.
Demining experts demonstrated the use of modern technology and equipment in identifying and neutralising explosive devices. The delegation was informed about the scale of the threat, which continues to hamper the safe return of displaced residents and the reconstruction of civilian infrastructure.
