Iran’s Parliament backs Ghalibaf for another term as speaker

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has been re-elected as speaker of Iran’s parliament, securing the support of a majority of lawmakers and extending his tenure in the role for a seventh consecutive term.

Ghalibaf retained his position as head of the parliament following the latest vote in the legislative body, Fars News Agency reports.

“Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, having secured the majority of lawmakers’ votes, was elected speaker for the seventh consecutive time and retained his position as head of parliament,” the agency said.
