Moscow apartment fire kills three, injures five
A fire erupted in a nine-story residential building in central Moscow, leaving three people dead and five others injured, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
Rescuers evacuated 19 residents from the burning building, including five children, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Two of the fatalities occurred while attempting to provide medical assistance and perform resuscitation on other victims. The blaze was brought under control after spreading across approximately 100 square metres. Emergency crews deployed 86 personnel and 23 pieces of firefighting equipment to contain the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials said the flames originated near an elevator and part of the stairwell on the building’s second floor. The residential building is located on Nikoloyamskaya Street in Moscow’s Tagansky District.
