Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport reopens after brief closure
The Moscow-based Vnukovo Airport has resumed its operations from 08:00 (local time) after imposing temporary restrictions on the reception and release of aircraft.
"From 08:00 on July 4, Vnukovo Airport has resumed its work," TASS quotes the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) press service as saying in a statement.
The airport's press service confirmed that Vnukovo is operating normally.
Earlier, restrictions on the reception and release of planes were introduced at Vnukovo from 05:10 on July 4 for reasons beyond the control of the airport.
According to a source, 14 flights were redirected from Vnukovo to other airports in the Russian capital.
According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the city was attacked by several drones, all of which were shot down by air defence. There were no casualties. For safety reasons, some flights in Vnukovo were diverted to other airports.
